As you may have known
already surmised, each poem in the given packet contained its own impression
and tone being presented. Each one brought a uniquely different form and
context that enthrall the reader in distinctively diverse ways. For example,
let’s look at the difference between underlying motifs amongst three of my
personal favorite following poems.
Geology of Water,
by Maureen Seaton uses the theme of water and ocean-like terms in her
work. She successfully uses descriptive
terms such as indigo, sand, sea, cobalt, and ocean; to convey her
personification of herself as water-like compared with the life-like intricacies
of H2o and other carbon based anomalies.
Identification,
veers off into another tangent comparing terms such as body parts to convey a
sort of process that the poem as a whole attempts to reveal. The poet also
identifies many descripted words to contribute the reader a clear picture or
vista if you will of the events transpiring as being described. Anatomy
follows a very similar framework. They both are focused and revolve
around different body parts. Anatomy does an exceptional
job going into poignant detail with the selected anatomical composition based
phrases and keywords.
